  • Any literature pieces must be minimum of 1k words.
  • You must add at least 1 Scarfox! If you do not have a Scarfox, you are free to draw any NPC and submit your prompt
  • Non-Owners are welcome to participate by using NPCs or another member's scarfox with their permission
  • Members are welcome to make crossover pieces with other species or creatures they own as scarfoxes are dimension hopping creatures.

The hum of anticipation crackles in the air, nearly as loud as the distant hiss of fuses being prepared along the cliffs. The sky above Maravela deepens into a rich, velvet blue—empty, waiting, like a grand canvas untouched.*
 
The Firework Festival is about to begin.
 
Scarfoxes from every isle, dressed in trailing scarves, festival sashes, and bright paints, gather along the sea cliffs and glowing plazas, their eyes turned upward. Lanterns bob on the water. The Coral Edge shimmers faintly beneath the moon. And along the western cliffs, where the wind rushes hardest and the view stretches farthest, the firework platforms stand ready.
 
The artisan, Hanabi, the Pyrotechnic Scarfox known across the Isles, paces nearby, his fur dusted with flecks of powder and ember-thread. His tail crackles faintly as enchanted fireworks—spools of shimmering powder, coiled fuses, and glowing shells—are prepared with care.
 
"The sky’s a quiet thing tonight," Hanabi calls, voice steady but eyes sharp, scanning the preparations. "Let’s remind it we’re still here."
 
This year, for the first time, anyone willing can step forward—helpers, performers, artists, dreamers—to take part in shaping the sky's spectacle.
 
Lanterns flutter, fireflies drift, and all eyes turn to those gathering near the platforms.

The low, steady beat of distant drums echoes through the air, pulsing beneath the hum of music and laughter across Maravela. In a tucked-away corner of the bustling Tide Market, beneath a canopy of woven fabrics and dangling charms, a cheerful Scarfox artisan beckons you closer.*
 
Before you lies a long, smooth worktable, covered in vibrant scraps of dyed cloth, stretched hides, wooden drum frames, and delicate carving tools. The artisan—tail wrapped in ribbons of coral and sea-green—grins wide, tapping a half-finished drum with a hand.
 
*"No festival is complete without rhythm, little sparks," they chuckle. "Every Scarfox can dance—but tonight, we make the heartbeat of the Isles."*
 
Stacks of unfinished hand drums, small enough for a Scarfox’s size yet designed to echo across the festival streets, sit ready for crafting. Soft, enchanted hides—gleaming faintly like pearl—wait to be stretched and secured.

  • Is your fox comfortable/ confident trying out something like this? Do they fair well with staining and dying but fall short on stitching? Or are they amazing at wood carving/engraving but weak of mist securing the drum skin, requiring aid? 
  • Is your fox's drum large and boisterous in sizing to their hand, or smaller for the gentle tap of drumming fingertips!

Below are some ideas on what to draw or write about for your second prompt entry:

  • What design does your Scarfox carve or paint on their drums frame? Is it in homage to another, to ones homestead, or to the village that hosts you with such gracious hospitality?
     
  •  Do they choose bold, proud colors? Or soft, hidden details?

  • Do they dye their satchets and thread in vein of what they feel their souls coloring is, or their body coloring?
